8 TYPES OF SENIOR LIVING AND CARE Independent living with amenities such as meals, transpor ta tion and activities usually included in a monthly fee. Assisted living communities provide individualized health and personal care assistance in a homelike setting with an emphasis on personal dignity, autonomy, independence and privacy. These can be large apartment-like settings or private residences. Services include meals, bathing, dressing, toileting and administering or supervising medication. Usually single family homes licensed to provide assistance with medications, bathing and dressing. Communities offering specialized programs for residents suffering from Alzheimer's disease or other forms of memory loss. These programs can be offered by Residential, Assisted Living or Nursing centers. Home Health Agencies provide a wide range of health and social services delivered at home to persons recovering from an illness or injury, or persons who are elderly, disabled and/or chronically ill, and provide "skilled services" such as nursing, social services, and therapeutic treatments. A program of palliative care consisting of medical, social and support services provided to persons with a terminal illness and a physician's prognosis of six months or less to live. Licensed Day Activity and Health Services facilities provide daytime services, up to 10 hours per day, Monday through Friday, to individuals residing in the community. INDEPENDENT LIVING ASSISTED LIVING CARE HOMES MEMORY CARE HOME CARE HOSPICE DAY CARE APARTMENTS Independent living units with age requirements. Meal service, activity programs and services usually are not included in the monthly rent. Continuing Care Retirement Community. Combine indepen dent living, assisted living and nursing in a single setting. Normally requiring an entry fee, offering a living unit, meals, and health care, up to the nursing level. CCRC Offer services addressing a wide range of senior issues, such as selecting a senior residence, choosing in-home care providers, and various financial options. Typically care managers evaluate a senior's situation with regard to health needs, hous ing choices and financial needs and then provide a recommended care plan. CARE MANAGEMENT Home Health Care companies with a state license (waiver) to provide Alzheimer's care in your home. HOME CARE/ ALZHEIMER'S WAIVER AFFORDABLE SENIOR HOUSING HUD 202 Program that offers rental assistance for seniors who meet the requirements of the federal program. Respite Care provides family members a time of relief from the constant everyday care of an elderly person. Short-term stays, normally in a nursing or assisted living facility. RESPITE Personal Assistance Services which help you perform activities of daily living, such as getting dressed, taking a bath or preparing a meal, or help you live in the community. HOME CARE NON MEDICAL The nursing center must provide for the total medical, social and psychological needs of each client, including room and board, social services, over-the-counter drugs, medical supplies and equipment, and personal needs items. May also provide inpatient Rehabilitation Services (physical, occupational, speech, respiratory, etc.). NURSING/ REHABILITATION
