TYPES OF SENIOR LIVING AND CARE RETIREMENT Independent living with amenities such as meals, transportation and activities usually included in a monthly fee. ASSISTED LIVING A combination of housing, personalized supportive services and health care, designed to meet the needs of those needing help with the activities of daily living. RESIDENTIAL CARE MEMORY CARE NURSING/REHAB Usually single family homes licensed to provide assistance with medications, bathing and dressing. Communities offering specialized programs for residents suffering from Alzheimer's disease or other forms of memory loss. These programs can be offered by Residential, Assisted Living or Nursing centers. Centers licensed to provide health care and services involved in managing complex and potentially serious medical problems. HOME CARE/ HOME HEALTH Home Care companies provide non-medical assistance with activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, meal preparation, transportation, medication reminders, and light housekeeping. Home Health Care is a higher level of care that is physician prescribed. Skilled care is provided by nurses or licensed health aides who can administer medication and often specialize in areas such as rehabilitation. PRIVATE DUTY HOME CARE Agencies that provide home care aides, companion care, homemaker services and may provide nursing services in the client's place of residence. HOSPICE Hospice care may be provided in the home or a senior care community. Services can include pain management and a variety of emotional, spiritual and physical support issues. DAY CARE SENIOR PLACEMENT PRODUCTS AND SERVICES Various programs provide a range of geriatric day services, including social, nutrition, nursing, and rehabilitation. Services that locate the right home for you or your loved one with respect to specific needs and preferences. Financial, health-related and other valuable products and services designed to meet the varying needs of mature adults. 7
