(Personal services include but are not limited to individual assistance with and supervision of self-administered medications and essential activities of daily living, such as eating, bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting.) ■ PERSONAL CARE HOMES A residence providing a watchful environment and personal services to adults who require varying degrees of supervision and protective care, but do not have an illness, injury or disability requiring chronic or convalescent care, such as medical or nursing services. ■ DAY CARE Various programs provide a range of geriatric day services, including social, nutrition, nursing, and rehab. ■ RESPITE CARE Provides family members a time of relief from the constant everyday care of an elderly person. These short-term stays, normally in a nursing or assisted living community, provide companionship to the patient while relieving the family of daily activities. 13
