12 Colorado Springs School District 11 Volunteer Services and Community Partnerships has many ways in which the members of the Colorado Springs community can engage with District 11 schools as a volunteer. As a member of the Colorado Springs community, you have a stake in the education of District 11 students. You can, however, be more than just a stakeholder; you can have an impact. Volunteer in a school: assist a teacher, tutor students, serve on committee, help in a library, aid with technology, provide clerical support, or accompany a choir. The possibilities are endless. Volunteer Services will place you in the school of your choice and work with that school to find an assignment that meets your interest and expertise, along with the school's needs. Enrich classroom learning by sharing your expertise with students. While books provide students with an excellent foundation, real people and life experiences affirm textbook lessons and truly impact student learning. Classroom teachers can utilize the Community Resource Bank to find community members who will complement approved curriculum by bringing their personal experiences into the classroom. Share your career expertise, talents, interests, and travel experience by providing a classroom presentation. You may participate as a GrandFriend. The mission of GrandFriends is to bring together two very important segments of our community, our elders and our youth. This program connects the wisdom and experiences of our past with the creativity and energy of our future, with the goal of improving the academic achievement of our young people. Senior citizens work with District 11 students who benefit not only from the knowledge GrandFriends provide, but from the life experiences they share and the personal relationships they build. The contributions you can make to District 11 are limitless. If you have an idea of how you, your business, or your organization can positively impact student achievement in our district, contact Volunteer Services and Community Partnerships. It is our goal to utilize the knowledge and expertise of our community. Imagine what District 11 could offer students with your support.
