8 TYPES OF SENIOR LIVING AND CARE Totally independent living with amenities such as meals, transportation, activities usually included in a monthly fee. Multi-unit communities that provide medication reminders and assistance with daily activities such as bathing/dressing. Facilities approved to provide inpatient Rehabilitation Services (physical, occupational, speech, respiratory, etc.). Usually a short to intermediate stay, following hospitalization. Communities offering specialized programs for residents suffering from Alzheimer's Disease or other forms of memory loss. These programs can be offered by Residential, Assisted Living or Nursing facilities. Communities licensed to provide skilled nursing services under the supervision of licensed nurses. Includes both companies that provide licensed health care services in the home and companies who provide non-medical assistance with such tasks as bathing, dressing, meal preparation and transportation. Medicare and Medicaid provide financial assistance in some cases. RETIREMENT/ INDEPENDENT ASSISTED LIVING REHABILITATION Multi-unit communities that provide personalized service plan. Services/Amenities include daily meals, assistance with daily living activities, medication assistance, recreational activities, scheduled transportation, etc. PERSONAL CARE MEMORY CARE NURSING/REHAB Various programs provide a range of geriatric day services, including social, nutrition, nursing and rehab. DAY CARE HOME CARE Private residences designed for independent senior lifestyles for 60+ retirees, usually offering service choices (such as some transpor- tation, activities, outings, emergency medical response systems, etc.) not found in standard patio home/condo developments. PATIO HOMES Independent living units with age requirements. Meal service, activity programs and services usually are not included in the monthly rent. APARTMENTS Usually offer a choice of spacious homes rather than apartments, often with a clubhouse in which a variety of activities are planned for residents. Monthly fees may cover services such as housekeeping & maintenance, but meals are usually not included. ACTIVE ADULT COMMUNITIES Hud 202 Program offers rental assistance for seniors who meet the requirements of the federal program from the US Department of Housing & Urban Development AFFORDABLE SENIOR HOUSING
